Hey y’all,
It’s been a while. As I eased back on social media, some of my other outlets took a backseat. I’ll give you a full update soon, but right now, I want to share a sweet story about Noah and his purple blanket.
In the Wright family, certain items are passed down or gifted at different stages of life—things like the family ring or memory blankets. When Noah was about a year and a half, he became completely obsessed with a memory blanket. He dragged it everywhere—to naps, bedtime, you name it.
The only problem? Noah didn’t have his own memory blanket yet.
So whose blanket was it? His big sister Cyana’s.
One weekend, Cyana came home to find her beloved purple blanket wrapped tightly around her baby brother. And that was it—Noah was hooked.
Months turned into years, and Noah refused to let go of that purple blanket. We tried everything to break the attachment—offering him new blankets made of the same material, even fancy ones just for him—but nothing worked. Now that Noah’s older, he’s even tried to debate Cyana on why the blanket is his.
Fast forward to this year: My mom made new memory blankets for everyone who joined the family since the last round. At age 7, Noah finally received his very own blanket.
Last night, I watched him take his brand-new blanket to bed. But you know what? That purple blanket was still wrapped around him.
Noah has a solid internal clock. Winter break or not, as bedtime approaches, he knows what to do. Tonight, before climbing into bed, Noah retrieved the purple blanket walked past his bed and handed Cyana her purple blanket.
🤔 Seven years. The number of completion.
It’s funny how something so small can mean so much.
