I’ve been noticing a new kid on our street for the last week. Each time I saw him, he looked over towards the house but continued riding his bike without a word. Well, over the weekend Noah and the kid met.
Noah has always been a bit cautious when talking to new people. He kinda works on a strike system. He will attempt to engage but won’t continue if the first attempt doesn’t show him that he doesn’t have to mask. Noah just wants to exist. Without judgment and irritation from people who don’t accept different thinkers. For instance, after trying to play with his cousins in the country several times. He got to the point where he limited the amount of times and even the type of play he’d engage in with them. Now, my nephews weren’t terrible or mean to him. Noah just realized after a certain point that there was a lack of communication taking place, and he decided to limit the amount of times he played a game wrong.
Now, Noah plays with them a lot more, and I’ve noticed a new level of compassion in my nephews.
So anywho, the boy down the street. We aren’t sure exactly how it happened; all we know is we looked up and they were riding bikes and playing soccer together.
Because it’s a new interaction, my husband and I stayed outside and in sight. After a while Noah proudly introduces me to his new friend. That’s when we discovered he only speaks Spanish.
It’s amazing what a mutual language barrier can do. 😂
Sure enough, every day since then the boy rides by looking for Noah. They make eye contact, and off on their bikes they go.
That’s all for now. A Noah update on school, ABA, and ARD meetings is coming shortly. I’ll also be sharing some chronicles on the girls. Jace isn’t doing much just yet except being cute and opinionated.
TTFN,
Rae
